As in fashion, so in ATVing: the right accessories can make or break everything. While you might wear a slick tie or your favorite pair of earrings with your outfit, you’ll need some very different accessories to make your ATVing experience better. Check out the top four (or more) accessories for four-wheelers, or 4-wheelers, according to Revel 42 Golf Carts & Powersports, to see which gear you have and which you’ll need to head out and buy. You can also get more tips from our staff here at our location in Garner, North Carolina. We also serve the cities of Raleigh, Clayton, and Cary.

1. Winch

Winches are one of those multi-use devices that can help in a variety of situations. Use it to haul debris or game onto the quad that is a little too heavy or wedged into the ground for you. You can use them in a variety of settings, from car shops to landscaping to construction work sites. You can even use them to get out of a tight spot, if you or a friend accidentally fall into a ditch or get caught in the mud.

1st Bonus: Tow Strap

Speaking of pulling your friend out of the mud, a winch isn’t going to be enough if you’re faced with this kind of challenge. You’ll also want a tow strap to help you out. Tow straps can be a safer, sturdier way of pulling heavy items. This means it can help with getting a fellow rider’s machine out of a ditch, but can also come in handy when pulling a large rock or tree.

2. LED Lights

While many four-wheelers come with their own lights, you can always upgrade the bulbs or add more LEDs to make it easier to see and be seen. Even if you think you’ll spend most of your time riding in daylight, having a good set of LED lights can be useful when it’s overcast or in the event you find your riding day running long.

3. Additional Storage

This is another feature that’ll probably come with your ATV, but could use a little bit of an upgrade if the standard features aren’t enough for your plans. This can include adding a cargo box or rear storage. Just keep in mind your model’s carrying capacity limits when giving yourself the opportunity to add more weight to the quad.

4. Emergency Supplies

Emergency supplies are essential, even if you (hopefully) never use them. Bring first aid for yourself and tools for your ATV. Even some basic supplies can tide you over until you reach your truck or help arrives. Some essential first aid supplies include disposable gloves, bandages, ointments, and painkillers. Tools you’ll want handy might include an air pump, zip ties, wrenches, a hammer, and, of course, duct tape.

In more serious cases, especially if you enjoy going where no ATVer has gone before, you might want survival gear with you. Again, we hope you never have to use it, but better safe than sorry. Bring along signaling gear like flares and a mirror, water, food, extra clothes, and a fire starting kit.

2nd Bonus: Protective Gear

Not all the gear you invest in should be for your four-wheeler. You’ll want to be wearing some essential accessories as well, primarily for safety reasons. A safety certified helmet is the most basic of safety equipment, but it’s the most important. If nothing else, always make sure you’re wearing a helmet. You’ll also want to cover your body completely in durable clothes. You can even get a riding suit if you know you’ll be doing a lot of trail riding. Some additional helpful riding clothes include gloves, riding boots, and eye protection.

With all this in mind, it’s time to hit the trails! Don’t have the right ATV yet to do this? Then stop by Revel 42 Golf Carts & Powersports to see which models we have for sale right now. We welcome all patrons from Garner, Raleigh, Clayton, and Cary, North Carolina.
