In The Beginning
In 1954, brothers Billy and Beverly Dolan founded the E-Z-GO® Golf Cart Co. in their hometown of Augusta, Georgia, and released their first electric golf cart that they had produced that same year. The company was begun in a small machine shop and soon expanded widely into multiple models, as many people sought out E-Z-GO® golf carts for their ease of use and high quality. The brothers Dolan worked hard at making the best possible golf carts they could, making comfort a priority. Soon, they would offer utility vehicles and personal transport vehicles as well.
Textron, Inc. bought out E-Z-GO® in 1960, bringing it into the fold of its multinational company with diverse interests. A focus on pollution reduction and more environmentally sound practices is at the core of Textron’s ethos. E-Z-GO® golf carts and utility vehicles are manufactured under the Textron Specialized Vehicle division and they remain headquartered in Augusta, right where they began almost 70 years ago.

The company even earned the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence in 2009 and they were featured as one of the top ten manufacturing plants in North America in Industry Week magazine.
